NIOT inaugurated its OTEC Desalination Laboratory on November 13, 2017. It is located in Chennai.
Purpose
As a part of activities related to OTEC, NIOT has set up a state of the art laboratory for carrying out studies on various components of OTEC and Low Temperature Thermal Desalination (LTTD). The Plant operation has been designed to operate Open Cycle OTEC, Closed Cycle OTEC, and Desalination in various seawater temperature scenarios.
