Nadia is the founder & CEO of Lumare Energi, an Indonesian startup with a mission to build and operate OTEC plants in rural Indonesia. Lumare’s plant design combines power generation with the production of fresh water and sea salt.
Previously Nadia has been with BP in the global projects organization for over 15 years, working on natural gas liquefaction plants (LNG) and large complex FPSOs vessels. She held various roles respectively in process engineering, project engineering, production efficiency improvement and operations readiness planning. Nadia has worked and lived in the UK, Angola, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia. Her experience covers all phases of project development: from concept selection, front end engineering design, detailed design, to construction, commissioning and operations.
All the while, Nadia took a keen interest in renewable energy and sustainable lifestyle. Coming across OTEC several years ago, she realised what this technology could do for rural communities in eastern Indonesia. She quit her Oil & Gas job to focus on OTEC.
Nadia also got involved with the production of sea salt in Indonesia, and set up a company selling artisan sea salts to help Indonesian farmers to preserve their traditional production methods.
Nadia holds a BSc in chemical engineering from University of Indonesia (UI), and an MSc in professional engineering from Aston University, UK.
Outside of the office, you will mostly find Nadia scuba diving, playing with her two cats or on her piano. Nadia is also a certified yoga instructor, and apart from being an avid practitioner regularly teaches yoga and meditation classes as community service.
